Lucky LV 13

I've been asked to do this a few times, so here goes, since I'm otherwise in a bit of a slump - I'm so hooked on Assassin's Creed II that I think you're going to have to wait for the Brotherhood review for a while. I've owned the PlayStation 3 since August, 2008. A month before that, Sony launched their counterpart to Microsoft's Xbox 360 Achievements: the PlayStation Network Trophies. I've mentioned Trophies in almost every review of a PS3 game I've done so far, so I thought it would be cool to show you how my personal Trophy Collection fares so far, and list my brief collection of PS3 games that don't have Trophy support for good measure. So basically, this is my PS3 collection - I don't own all these games, however, not by a long shot. Those games no longer in my possession or the ones I've borrowed from my friends, are marked in yellow. Downloadable games are marked in PSN blue.

TROPHY SUMMARY

Assassin's Creed II
68% - 0P / 0G / 11S / 26B
Comments:
Platinum Trophy on the (distant) horizon! I think there are only two Trophies that really pose some challenge in this game. It is a great game, however.

Batman: Arkham Asylum
74% - 0P / 0G / 13S / 26B
Comments:
I kind of gave up on the game after watching my friend nail all of the Trophies related to Freeflow with one hand practically tied behind his back. I'll probably end up with something like 78%. I have a Hard game in progress.

Brain Challenge

33% - 0G / 0S / 7B
Comments:
It's total shit and it became even more shitty when the add-on came along. I'll probably never play the game again, since you can't choose the puzzles.

Brütal Legend

73% - 0P / 1G / 7S / 38B
Comments:
This one includes the Hammer of Infinite Fate add-on. I have collected almost each of the additional Trophies that came with the add-on, some multiplayer Trophies as well. I'll probably try to beat the game on Brütal difficulty one more time before I'll lay the game to rest. It was such a disappointment.

Buzz! Quiz TV

45% - 0P / 2G / 8S / 4B
Comments:
This would've been one easy Platinum if I would've had the patience to play the game enough, and familiarize myself with its every element. However, multiplayer Trophies are now pretty much impossible to get (I think they've actually closed down the servers), and every accumulative Trophy, since I deleted the save file when I switched to a bigger hard drive. :/

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

25% - 0P / 0G / 0S / 18B
Comments:
Believe it or not, I beat the game. I did pretty much nothing out of the ordinary here, I just ran through the game on the normal difficulty level. 18 Bronzes, wow. No matter how disappointed I was in the game, it was still a decent experience - but I don't think I'm going to make the effort for any more Trophies.

Cuboid
63% - 0G / 3S / 13B
Comments:
This one includes the Professional Pack. Too bad I lost all interest in the game after beating the game itself, so I have no Trophies from the Professional Pack. I got all the Trophies from the standard game.

Dead Space

70% - 0P / 0G / 4S / 39B
Comments:
I actually realized how God damn awesome this game is after beating it. It has many slumps, but the overall experience is fantastic. Since it's going to be a long time before I can afford Dead Space 2, I think I'll try to plat the game. After all, I'm not that far from the big prize.

Dragon Age: Origins
73% - 1P / 3G / 5S / 47B
Comments:
A relatively easy Platinum if you know exactly what you're doing. I own all six additional quests and the Awakening expansion, but I have only beaten three of the downloadable packs thus far: Warden's Keep, The Stone Prisoner and Return to Ostagar. I focused on platting the base retail, and as you might imagine, that was one tedious, time consuming errand, so I haven't quite gotten around to raise the percentage to 100. I just couldn't take the game any more after platting it, but I'll get to work on the additional content some day.

Fallout 3

54% - 1P / 2G / 11S / 38B
Comments:
Another easy Platinum, it just takes a LOT of time - at least three playthroughs. I have three expansion packs for this one, and I'm currently (semi-)working on Mothership Zeta. My progress is a bit slow, thanks to the fact that I deleted the Fallout 3 save file when I switched to a bigger hard drive; if getting to level 20 from scratch took time, think about reaching level 30... from scratch. In a game you have beaten inside out.

Fallout: New Vegas

56% - 0P / 0G / 8S / 29B
Comments:
Not as easy to plat as Fallout 3, but not impossible. Just time consuming as well, I suppose. I have beaten the game only once thus far, and I recently got the Dead Money expansion pack. I'll get back to the game once it's patched to the hilt. Admittedly, even a great game that might crash eight times within an hour isn't much fun to play.

Final Fantasy XIII
26% - 0P / 1G / 0S / 12B
Comments:
Sigh. I guess you've read the review and know what I think of this mediocre offering in a golden franchise. The Trophies in this game demand a little too much of your precious time and patience. I don't know if there are any trinkets that are virtually impossible to nail. Probably not, since this is an RPG... or at least, that's what they're telling us.

Flower
42% - 0G / 0S / 9B
Comments:
What a beautiful piece of art this game is! I got it from the anniversary sale as a semi-joke, and man, was I blown away. It's quite hard to get other than Bronzes in this game. Takes skill, not that much time. It's funny, seeing that the game has one-button gameplay.

God of War
80% - 0P / 3G / 9S / 20B
Comments:
I own the original God of War on the PS2, I borrowed the PS3 Collection from a friend exclusively because of the Trophies. A couple of missing Golds here, which I'll probably never get - I think 80% is the limit of my skills and speed here.

God of War II
71% - 0P / 2G / 10S / 18B
Comments:
Same as above, down to the last word.

God of War III
61% - 0P / 1G / 9S / 19B
Comments:
Work in progress. I'll not be able to plat the game, that's for sure, but I'm pretty positive I can reach at least 70% if I work hard enough. There's one obvious Trophy I missed on my first playthrough, but I'll surely get it on this second round. There's just one problem: I'm playing a hard game on the hardest difficulty setting. So, it's going to take a while.

Grand Theft Auto IV

65% - 0P / 1G / 5S / 40B
Comments:
I have a few multiplayer Trophies from this one, and ALL single-player Trophies except for Liberty City Minute (Gold). It's damn easy to get, much easier than it sounds - "Finish the story in 30 hours" - but after beating the game four times (and to 100%), it isn't really that interesting to go for. I'll get to it in a few more months.

Guitar Hero Metallica
68% - 0P / 1G / 5S / 30B
Comments:
I've gotten all there is to get for me. Damn online- and band-exclusives. The Guitar Hero series is one of the worst when it comes to franchises that shun single players.

Guitar Hero 5
66% - 0P / 0G / 8S / 28B
Comments:
Pretty much the same as above.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock
82% - 0P / 1G / 9S / 32B
Comments:
For once, sensible Trophies that mostly relate to the skills of a single player. I'm still going for the Hand Mutilator Trophy, but I think that's going to be the last rhythm game Trophy that I'll ever nail... if I'm able to do it, that is.

Heavy Rain
78% - 0P / 0G / 3S / 49B
Comments:
I'll plat it when I have the time, there's just one single Trophy that is actually difficult to get - and it's a fuckin' Bronze! I'll never understand games that have a low-level Trophy for the hardest one there is. Otherwise, Heavy Rain's easy. It just takes a lot of time, and a lot of patience, since even while every decision counts, the basics never change.

inFamous
63% - 0P / 0G / 7S / 27B
Comments:
I would've probably platted the game already, or at least I would've come close, if I liked it enough - but I don't. It's a good game and I know for a fact that the karmic system offers up two completely different experiences, but after my first playthrough (as "Infamous", of course), I just couldn't start it over. It lacks a certain attraction.

Linger in Shadows
100% - 5S / 11B
Comments:
16 easy low-level Trophies. That's all Linger in Shadows is good for, and it's cheap to boot. It looked good when it came out, but today, this "technical demo" has close to no value. The music's quite good, but you can download the soundtrack from PSN for free, so if you're not a total whore, leave the "game" be.

LittleBigPlanet
70% - 0P / 1G / 6S / 50B
Comments:
As magnificent as this game is, most of the Trophies are stupid, and extremely difficult to get. This one includes both downloadable level kits that have extra Trophies, Metal Gear Solid and Pirates of the Caribbean. I believe I have all MGS Trophies except for one, and all Pirates Trophies except for two. Because of the many Trophies exclusive to online play and the recent silence that has fallen upon the servers (for some odd reason!), I've pretty much given up on this game.

LittleBigPlanet 2
48% - 0P / 1G / 3S / 21B
Comments:
Trophies that make more sense, but they're harder to get, after a fairly easy beginning. Some efforts, like simply publishing a certain type of custom level, result in several Trophies instead of just one, which is pretty cool. Needless to say, I'm working on this game, with a friend, and we're hell bent on making the LBP level of the century. Also, I still consider this game the best the PlayStation 3 has to offer, so I'm also still very interested in the single-player campaign.

Monkey Island 2 - Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge
95% - 1G / 4S / 6B
Comments:
An old favourite with Trophy support for just a few coins, how could I resist? I got 95% on the first round; I only failed to get the Speed Demon Trophy - "Beat the game in under three hours" - due to my desire to hear every classic line in the game actually spoken.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX
23% - 0G / 0S / 5B
Comments:
I agree with everyone who's ever reviewed this game - it's the ultimate Pac-Man experience. I just haven't really gotten around to collect Trophies from it, I've just enjoyed the game. It's quite easy to nail 100%, it seems. It just requires you to play it, and fully utilize the features of the game.

PAIN
39% - 2G / 3S / 15B
Comments:
PAIN... and its million and one add-ons. This game is ridiculous, and the money I've spent on it is ridiculous. I used to like it due to my love for chaos and mayhem, but let's face it, the game isn't that good, and the game has the hardest and most unfair Trophies ever seen on the PlayStation 3.

Red Dead Redemption
50% - 0P / 2G / 7S / 33S
Comments:
Even after beating the game to 100%, and owning Undead Nightmare, I still only have 50% of the Trophies. Good guesses, anyone? That's right, online exclusives. Loads of them, and I really don't dig playing this game online, as fabulous as it is. I have almost every single-player Trophy except for a couple of Bronzes - including Friends in High Places - so you can just imagine how many online Trophies there are.

Rock Band 2
57% - 0P / 0G / 8S / 24B
Comments:
Rock Band 2 is definitely a band game, so it has many band-exclusive Trophies I don't even have the resources to get, since I only own a guitar and a microphone, so I think I've reached my limit. Besides, once again it's one of those "deleted save file" games.

Resident Evil 5

63% - 0P / 0G / 7S / 44B
Comments:
One word sums it all up quite well: nightmarish. OK, so I've beaten the game twice on Normal and once on Veteran, by myself, and once as a Normal co-op game with my friend. Oh, you think this is enough? Think again! Most of the Trophies take just patience and many playthroughs, and online Trophies that come with the Versus Pack don't count towards the Platinum. BUT, there is one single Trophy which makes nailing Platinum impossible for me personally, and that is beating the game on Professional. You die from two hits of anything except for an uncontrollable canine attack. That's it, I give up. However, I am going for all other Trophies in the base retail. I have all downloadable content for the game, and I've managed to get most of the Trophies in Lost in Nightmares; Desperate Escape is a bitch.

Secret of Monkey Island, The - Special Edition

90% - 1G / 4S / 5B
Comments:
I'm missing the alternative ending, and another Trophy that prompts the player to speed through the game in under three hours. I can't comprehend why someone would want to do that.

Shatter
14% - 0G / 0S / 3B
Comments:
This is a great, addictive game, I just haven't found the time to get really addicted to it. A fantastic variation of the classic Breakout!

SingStar
5% - 0P / 0G / 0S / 5B
Comments:
I had one of these games for like a week, a couple of years ago. What's cool and unique about SingStar's Trophies is that you can have possession of any PS3 game in the series, they all go under the same title. I've been thinking of getting one of the games, probably SingStar Queen, at some point. They're just damn expensive, and not compatible with LogiTech.

Sonic the Hedgehog
4% - 0G / 0S / 1B
Comments:
I just started the game and I probably won't play it for a while since my Plus account expired and I have no money for renewing the subscription at the moment, but since it's so classic (it's directly emulated from the original game), I just had to nail one Trophy before the account's expiration, which requires you to beat the first stage in under 35 seconds.

Tales of Monkey Island - Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal

100% - 1G / 5S / 5B
Comments:
I'm not really sure why I bothered to play this chapter twice to get all the Trophies; it's possible to get all of them on one single playthrough, but I missed a spot and couldn't return due to the autosave.

Tales of Monkey Island - Chapter 2: The Siege of Spinner Cay

95% - 1G / 5S / 4B
Comments:
Perhaps the worst and most far fetched of all the chapters. I missed a spot here as well, but didn't have the slightest desire to return to it.

Tales of Monkey Island - Chapter 3: Lair of the Leviathan
80% - 1G / 3S / 5B
Comments:
Far fetched, but better, thanks to the brilliant performance by Murray and the funniest general dialogue of the season. I missed two Silvers here.

Tales of Monkey Island - Chapter 4: The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood
85% - 1G / 4S / 4B
Comments:
At this point, I was really getting bored and didn't even try to get all the Trophies. Funny, but that's all that Chapter 4 is. This game's version of Stan is the worst ever. Even the one in Escape from Monkey Island was better.

Tales of Monkey Island - Chapter 5: Rise of the Pirate God
90% - 1G / 5S / 3B
Comments:
As far as the Monkey Island timeline goes, this one's story is full of some of my favourite parts in the whole franchise. It's not that fun to play. It still has some awkward puzzles that plague the whole season, but the story prompted me to go for a slightly higher number of Trophies. I missed two Bronzes this time around.

Trine
100% - 1P / 3G / 23S / 6B
Comments:
The first PSN exclusive to have a Platinum. Not only that, it has a whopping amount of 23 Silvers and three Golds, and only six Bronzes. On top of all, it's one of the easiest games to plat (took me two days) but a truly enjoyable game, pure Finnish quality. Finnish developers are known for placing quality over quantity; they're slow - just think how long it took for Alan Wake to finally hit the shelves - but proficient. Finnish games demand a lot of promotion to get noticed, and I believe the Trophies in the PS3 version of Trine worked as kind of a sales pitch. An easy game, but one of the most unique gaming experiences of the decade.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
91% - 0P / 2G / 8S / 36B
Comments:
Motherfucker! I'm missing ONE Gold here to reach the Platinum. You guessed it, it's Charted! Crushing. Beating the game on Hard was difficult, but Crushing is a pure nightmare from the very beginning since you die from absorbing two freakin' bullets! I'm working on it... but I don't believe I can actually do it.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
49% - 0P / 1G / 6S / 29B
Comments:
It's one of the best games on the PS3, but I haven't had the time to beat it more than once. I'll get back to it at some point, and I believe I'll be able to gather about as many Trophies as I did in the first game. It's just that this one has those damn online exclusives - but just two easy ones are required to reach the plat. Good thinking by Naughty Dog.

UNO
52% - 0G / 1S / 9B
Comments:
Gameloft is so fucking pathetic they fucked up a simple, no-fail concept like UNO. They didn't even check the advanced rules of the classic card game before making this piece of dung. I've got every Trophy I have the slightest interest of going for.

WipEout HD
18% - 0P / 0G / 0S / 15B
Comments:
A hard game, even without the Fury DLC. One of the few PSN games that has a Platinum, but it's one of the hardest Platinums to get. I've beaten the game's single-player campaign, and I only have 18% to show for it - get the idea? A great game, though. One of the most essential racers there is, and definitely worth the download.

Worms
85% - 1G / 1S / 10B
Comments:
I'm missing the online Trophies, not much of a surprise there. The game's a moderately good application of the classic concept.

WWE SmackDown vs Raw 2010

100% - 1P / 5G / 15S / 5B
Comments:
This Platinum was way too easy. Some say it's hard, but I've had every WWE game made since Shut Your Mouth, so for me, it was easy. Once again, it's one of these "reverse" games: 15 Silvers, five Golds, and only five Bronzes which are completely effortless.

ZEN Pinball
9% - 0G / 0S / 5B
Comments:
Did I say PAIN had the hardest and most unfair Trophies? Let me correct that! The main difference is that ZEN Pinball is a fun game. Each table in the game has one easy Trophy, while the rest are wholly dependent on luck and nothing else. Not a game for whores, just those who enjoy pinball.
